I have played 2 full games in the past 2 days, and a problem keeps resurfacing. Sometimes, the 'X' key in the top right of a status screen (of a unit or city) will not close the window. I end up hitting the menu key at the top of the screen and it sometimes goes to the menu and sometimes just erases the status window as I wanted. I have not yet found any common factors that cause this to happen, so I am afraid that I cant help there. Also, sometimes when I start the game, the screen comes up, but with no screen buttons and no way to quit the game. I end up having to soft-reset the unit. Am I the only one having these problems?

Is that on the Pocket PC version or the desktop version?

I am talking about the Pocket PC version. I tried running the PC version (an earlier release) on my 233 MHZ machine, and it ran extremely slowly......I am not sure what might be wrong there. I will have to try the newest version on my desktop.

Make sure you turn the resolution in the game way down like 640x480. That should help with the speed.
Do you consistently have the close window problem or does it come and go? Also have you clicked around the X to see if the box is off. It is possible for the touch screen on a Pocket PC to get slightly out of alignment. (I think there is a program you can run to realign it.) The out of alignment can also be inconsistent across the screen.
Barring that there is something else you can do. If you pocket pc has five button across the bottom (most do) then go into your settings and switch on "use buttons" it is on the buttons setting page. Then the button under (or near) the D-pad will close open windows. So if you are looking at a details page or list page or something, you can just hit that button and it will close. (I do that anyway it is more convenient than tapping.)
If you have the close problem in the 1.0 beta let me know. Also, what PDA are you using?

the resolution? I have played around with that and it doesn't seem to do anything. What is it for?

Resolution is concerning your 233 MHZ machine playing slowly. Doesn't affect the PPC.

In the 1.0 beta resolution, full screen and refresh rate should not longer show up on the PPC version. On the pc version you have to change them then restart the program. I am looking at ways to make the changes take place immediately but that might not make it into 1.0 final.
