Is it possible to share saved games with others?
I was thinking that perhaps by reserving a slot(say slot 9) saving a game there, and then swapping it with another user. They could use it by placing the file in the appropriate directory and then loading it.
If it did work perhaps novices like myself could see how the vets do it !

If you both have the same mods loaded and it is not a multiplayer game yes that would work fine. One person would save it in slot 9 and the other person could then copy the file and load it from slot 9. I do that all the time to try and run down bugs players find.
