Subject - I can not make a map bigger than medium, and I can't get the mod units

I just purchased the game 2 days ago. Great game. I love Empire. However, I can never make a map bigger than medium, on either the PC or the pocket PC.

Also, I followed the directions in the readme for each mod, but I do not get any of the extra units. Though my old games no longer load because the game detects that the mods are different. Can anyone help me?

The game will cut back on the large maps if your device (or pc) does not have enough memory to support them. Check and see how much free memory you have and let me know. If you have plenty then we will start looking at other things.

Your old games wont pick up most the mods you have to start new ones. If you rename your mods directory to something else then you can finish out the old games. When you are ready to start new ones put the mods directory back.

Lets tackle the large map problem first then figure out what is up with the mods.

I have half a gig of RAM in my machine, as well as a P4 CPU. I don't think memory is the issue. I am only using 232864 of RAM currently.

It is still crashing on anything larger than a medium map. And I was in one game where I got to turn 254, and it kept crashing, and I could not finish the game. That was a medium as well.

This seems very unstable.

Oh I thought you couldn't see the big maps at all. I didn't realize it was a crash. There are some crash problems related to mods right now and there might be some other instability in there. Can you send me your sized game files, either post them here or email them to me (tedson@metalshard.com) If the games were created with mods then zip up your mods directory and send me that as well.
