it would be really great, if you would get a message when an enemy unit is detected by one of your own units or citys. especially on large maps it happens constantly to me, that i overlook an enemy unit approaching one of my citys. would it be possible to add a new message, for example "enemy <unit name> detected by <name of city/unit>" when an enemy unit gets within detection range for the first time?

There is an enemy spotted message that gets set off each time one of your units (or cities) see an enemy. Bit it's not quite the same because it gets added every time the enemy is seen. You can write a script that catches the enemy spotted event an puts a custom message into the message queue the first time each enemy unit is seen.
