Is there a .cab file available, Tully?
I remember in the past there was a cab file created on the desktop by the install, but this seems not to be anymore. Or is it still?

The cab file gets unpacked into your temp directory under a metalshard directory when you do the install on the desktop. Basically all the install does it unpack the cab file then pass it to activesync.

Then is the .cab file erased after the install or is it still on the desktop computer after the install? Where?

It is left beind in the temp directory. Go into you computer's system properties and go to the advanced tab then click on the 'Enviroment Variables' button. Under there you can see where the variable 'temp' is set. That is your windows temp directory. Under that temp directory will be a PDA directory and under that will be game.arm.CAB. That is the pocket war CAB file that gets installed on your pda.
