What do you think of the idea to reverse the way forum messages are stored. Go from newest to oldest. Newest being on page one. This would be simular to the way you have your Topics listed.

I played with that but the forms work more like a conversation and people naturally read top to bottom, so if I put the backwards it makes it hard to read through the thread.

This is pretty primitive forum software. How about using something that would allow users to search through previous posts at least? And something that lets you get email notification when a post is responded to?
