Subject - Feature list for 1.7 and 1.8

It has been a while since I have done one of these so here it goes...

Here is what is coming in 1.7

* VGA and 240x240 support for pocket pc
* Allow desktop version to run without Direct X
* Fix vet status bonus make them larger and look at having more levels
* Fix Steen's crash problem if I can figure out how to make it happen
* Do a quick once over on multiplayer and make sure all the bugs are out

Here is the current 1.8 feature list...

* make multiplayer easier to setup and play
* remove need for server for multiplayer games
* add roads, rivers, decorations to break up map monotony
* make everything button and dpad controllable
* scenario builder (on the list forever, still not done)
* make UI work better on small screen (finish smartphone version)
* add entrenching
* fix scripting bugs in createLandType and createCity
* allow engineers to build bridges and make settler type unit

Thoughts on anything I missed that should be on the list?

Sounds good Tully. Maybe in 1.8 you will give us the option to destroy and build bridges?

This may not be an issue any longer. Between him and I, we think we know what the issue is.... :)

Everything for 1.7 is done. I just need to update the installer. I was waiting until wed thats when my Axim is coming in that can do VGA. Right now the code working in 240x320 and it works on the pc at any res but it hasnt been tested at all on a vga pda.

If you want to try totally untested code I can go ahead and build the installer tonight and put it up on the website.

Andre, I am planning on updating the engineer so it can build bridges. The bridges will probably be a "unit" which means you could attack it and destroy it.

Well, Tully, as you know, I have a VGA device. update it, post it, etc. I'll give it a rundown. I notice you aren't on IM. If you do the build and don't want to distribute it in general, you can IM me. :)

I'd like to see engineers be able to dig waterways to connect lakes to oceans etc. I suspect it should be fairly slow, like the time it takes to build airstrips, to build each section of channel. And maybe limit what can be brought through, no battleships or carriers. Just an idea.
