Now that Pocket War development is dead, can anyone recommend similar games? I'm looking to play on my iPhone since my old Pocket PC has been dead and collecting dust in a box for 2 years now. A web version would be nice also.

Has anyone tried http://www.strategicdomination.com?

Uniwar (iPhone) is turn-based, but cannot compare to large-scale strategy PW had.
