The screensaver uses 100% CPU. This is probably unavoidable, but I just want to sure that if I'm running something when the screensaver runs, the screensaver won't slow down my program.

The screen saver will use all the cpu that is available. It does yeild though so it should not starve other program running in the background. It is very possible it will slow them down though.
